Saving energy one text message at a time
Energy Upgrade California (EUC) has an ambitious goal, help educate Californians to be more energy efficient and utilize sustainable resources. DDB was tasked with helping them reach their goals and they reached out to me to get a helping hand on the technical side.
Step one was a building a responsive website in Craft that supported five languages to educate the public and get people to sign up to receive weekly tips.
Step two was creating a custom Craft module that could send the weekly text messages with a fun little yes/no challenge. People would get a humorous animated GIF response based on their answer and could track their results to win some swag.
After a few hundred thousand text messages were sent I hope we helped out California's environment a little bit.
